Elbur Avenue

10/24/2017 meeting follow-up: Information from John Litten

As mentioned in a previous post, several issues were discussed at the 10/24 block club meeting. Ann Marie shared the follow-up feedback from Councilman John Litten:

  • Speed issue on Elbur— Ward 3 Police Officer Matt Wintrick has logged our complaint about speed on the street and has been spending time parked on Elbur during usual high traffic time. I saw him parked there several times last week and Councilman Litten reports that tickets have been issued.
  • Sidewalk repair concerns— In response to our inquiry, the sidewalk division would prefer to discuss concerns with people on a case by case basis, since everyone’s sidewalks are different. They also suggest that people wait for the letters to come in spring and inquire from there. This is the official notice. Councilman Litten will inquire further about the proposed timeline. The work may occur later than Councilman Litten had originally stated in our meeting. http://www.onelakewood.com/accordions/180-miles-of-sidewalks/
  • Garbage pick-up— Per Public Works Department, ” We have been collecting streets that have had construction projects on them a little earlier this year while the projects are going on so the trash trucks aren’t interfering with the construction work”. I’ve noticed the trash pick up has been later in the last couple of weeks so hoping it stays that way!
  • Snow removal— We will work with the building department as issues arise.
  • Porch lights— Councilman Litten also suggested that folks may want to consider keeping their porch lights on at night as a safety measure. Our neighbor shared this resource on the topic–First Energy has a program through which free LED light bulbs and other supplies are available: https://www.ohioenergykit.com/
  • Lakewood block club newsletter–I’ve attached the block club newsletter that is sent out by the city of Lakewood. Most of this information is outdated but I was assured that we will begin to receive these newsletters on a more timely basis moving forward (as we didn’t receive this one until last week).
