We had our block club meeting on 4/26/22 with Officer William (Bill) McCarthy, Neighborhood Officer of Ward 3. Councilman John Litten was also able to join us for our conversation.

- Issues you can reach out to neighborhood officers for include:
- Parking issues on our street
- Vacant houses
- Animal issues (dogs barking etc.)
- Neighbor issues
- House/property complaints
- Well checks on neighbors (or call the non-emergency line at: 216.521.6773)
- He noted that Lakewood currently only has one officer in Lakewood schools. Therefore, the neighborhood officers are also trying to make their presence known in the schools as well.
- They are working on bringing back coffee with cops, bike rides with cops, and barbecues at the parks with our neighborhood officers.
Councilman Litten Updates:
- Conversations continue regarding the re-development of the Lakewood Hospital space.
- He expects negotiations to continue through the Summer with final plans for execution to be determined by the end of Summer 2022.
- He expects the space to include: 4 story office building, parking lot, 200 apartment units, retail space, and a public square, although nothing has been finalized.
- Solove Development will be handling the Spitzer and Buick lots property and is developing plans for permit submission now.
- These are due by 7/31/22.
- While John hopes construction will start later this year he thinks it’s more likely for it to begin in 2023
- Regarding property issues of our neighbors, he encourages us to contact him directly if we need support and to continue to report issues so that there is a trail of citations if additional action needs to occur.
