What events / activites should we focus on next?

Block Party Recap
- Approximately 65 people attended the block party.
- This year saw the addition of live music, which was well-received.
- We appreciate the generous monetary donation from Michael and Jamie Ball, as well as the individual donations received from attendees.
- All money received went into covering costs of this year’s event.
- Suggestions for next year included:
- Inviting the Mayor
- Revising the time of the event
- Scheduling food and activitity time(s)
- Setting the date early
- Distributing a list of volunteer positions
- Distributing an overall schedule of events
- Adding a family talent show.
Suggested events/activities
- A discussion took place around suggested events or activities that the Club could coordinate.
- It was stated that a chair person would be needed for any event to take place.
- The group discussed meal trains, holiday house hop, egg hunt, fun run or turkey trot, pancake breakfast, yard cleanup for those in need, a Halloween event, and a new neighbor welcome.
- Culeen Carey offered to chair the new neighbor welcome.

City Update
- Councilman Litten stated that while council is on it’s August break, he is busy with an uptick in calls from constituents.
- Most calls are regarding the sidewalk project.
- Councilman Litten is willing to work with individual homeowners on any concerns.
- One concern was presented regarding damage to a tree lawn tree from the sidewalk project.
- He offered to reach out to the City arborist.
- A discussion took place regarding Lakewood Park and the parking situation.
- With increased use of the park, parking is often difficult.
- Councilman Litten stated that removing green space would impact water run off, and that parking in surrounding neighborhoods is an option.
- A discussion took place on the council committees and on citizen commissions.
- Councilman Litten stated there was a vacancy on the Animal Welfare Safety Advisory Board, and anyone interested could contact him.
- There was also a conversation about property taxes.
- Councilman Litten noted that 60% of property taxes go to the schools and 17% to the city.
Next Meeting
- The next meeting will likely be an informal holiday gathering in December.
- Culeen Carey offered to host.
- This could also be an opportunity to meet the owners of Mad Mac’s and see if their party room might be available.
- Another option could be to hold the holiday house hop, but again a chair of that event would be needed.
